DODGE COUNTY JOB POSTING: Seasonal Employee Transfer Station

POSITION TITLE: Seasonal Employee (Transfer Station - Recycling Center)
DATE OF CLOSING: Open until filled
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Solid Waste Facility Manager
HOURS: Typically 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and some
Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – Noon. 40 hours per week. (up to 4 months) or part-time (flexible hours)
JOB PURPOSE: Under the general supervision of the Solid Waste Facility
Manager. Duties will include equipment operation, material handling, customer service and grounds maintenance.
STARTING WAGE: $18.50 hour
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain buildings, site and equipment. Includes painting, litter pick-up, sweeping, mowing, and cleaning.
2. Material sorting and processing. Includes handling appliances, electronics, and other recyclable materials and waste items.
3. Customer service. Characterize incoming waste and direct customer on proper disposal and unloading location. Assist in weighing, unloading and record keeping.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair, mechanical equipment, tools and machinery. Ability to communicate with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Eighteen years old or older. Current valid MN drivers license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work is medium to heavy, involving lifting and carrying objects weighing over fifty pounds. Finger and manual dexterity and motor coordination are required for the variety of jobs performed.
