BATHER I or II POSITION
D&H is seeking a full-time Bather / Dog Washer. Prior bathing or kennel experience is preferred, and animal handling experience is required. A Bather's principal duties are washing and drying dogs, but also expect about 30% of your time to be spent cleaning and practicing proper hygiene practices throughout the shop with your fellow Bathing Team. This is a labor-intensive position and our Bathers work very hard physically. Compensation is $18-$20 hourly, based on experience for full-time. Bathers also receive a scaled tip-share after 30 days on the job, which typically averages an additional $0.50-$1 an hour, in addition to the base hourly rate. We do not work on commission. D&H is an equal opportunity employer.
The required shifts for this position are as follows:
- Full-Time: Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30am to 6pm.
OR
- Full-Time: Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, and Saturday, 9am to 5:30pm.
- Saturdays are required for all employees.
- Occasional Saturdays may finish slightly earlier or later.
- On the second Saturday of every month there is a staff meeting with a 8:30am start time.
- Overtime hours are regularly available.
Motivated and dedicated Bathers will have advancement opportunities to learn additional skills, including the trade of dog grooming. For example, our Bather who was hired in 2018 advanced to multiple positions and is now a Groomer II in our Salon, another Bather hired in 2019 was promoted to the position of BathingRoom Supervisor for one year and then advanced to a Groomer’s Apprentice III, and an additional Bather hired in 2022 is now a Groomer’s Apprentice II in our Salon. We highly prefer to promote from within our company, but advancements like those listed above are merit-based and not guaranteed.
