Description
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for preparing and entering data for check requisitions and credit card purchases, ensuring adherence to purchasing policies. Communicates with staff and vendors regarding auditing needs and provides backup support for assigned duties.
Responsibilities:
· Processing and entering a weekly AP invoice batch into the accounting system for check requests.
· Auditing documentation and verifying proper signatures for all check payment requests.
· Ensuring proper documentation and auditing receipts for credit card transactions.
· Prepare and process monthly journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Establish new vendor accounts and ensure accurate 1099 classification.
· Prepare and file monthly sales tax reports in compliance with state regulations.
· Extracting and organizing monthly credit card transactions into a structured Excel report.
· Voiding checks as needed through the accounting program.
· Responsible for scanning donation checks into banking software daily.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with two years of related experience, or a one-year certificate from a college/technical school with one or more years of experience. Non-profit experience is helpful but not required.
