DESCRIPTION
The Director of Philanthropy acquires, cultivates and stewards relationships with the organization’s major donors (currently defined as those who contribute $1000 in a given year) to retain and increase the donor’s engagement with Dogs Inc, thereby ensuring continued and increasing gifts to the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage relationships and solicitations of assigned donors

Utilize the Raiser’s Edge software process to include identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. for the purpose of fundraising to support the organization’s annual revenue goal.

Focus on relationship-based fundraising and permission-based ask strategies for the purpose of fundraising to support the organization’s annual revenue goal.

Retain and increase donors and gifts

Analyze donor retention data and develop and implement retention strategies.

Research newly assigned donors

Utilize Blackbaud Wealth Insights, Donor Search, Insightful software and other available resources on the web.

Add research information to Raiser’s Edge donor record.

Participate in fundraising and donor engagement events

Participate in (and, where appropriate, assist in planning of) internal and external events benefitting Dogs Inc with the purpose of stewarding current donors and identifying potential new donors.

Identify, cultivate and engage new supporters

Foster the relationship with current donors to engage their circle of friends in becoming involved with Dogs Inc.

Seek and qualify new donor prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university

Three or more years of fundraising or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Willingness to work both independently and collaboratively.

Professionalism and diplomacy in all modes of communication (oral and written).
