General Job Description

The Quality Control Supervisor at Dogwood Industries plays a critical role in overseeing quality control processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and working closely with production to maintain high-quality manufacturing standards. The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills to interact with shop floor workers and department leaders, as well as a high level of integrity to set and enforce quality expectations. A deep understanding of AWS D1.1/D1.2, drawing standards, and heavy manufacturing is critical for success in this role. The QC Supervisor is expected to uphold and promote strong ethical standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the quality control team at the Sedro-Woolley facility, ensuring all fabrication work meets Dogwood’s quality expectations and industry standards
  • Serve as the face of Dogwood’s quality assurance program, interacting with customers, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.2 and other relevant standards, reviewing drawings and specifications to maintain consistency and accuracy
  • Oversee inspection processes, including first article, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions are implemented
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and project management teams to resolve quality issues and proactively improve processes
  • Set high ethical and quality standards, holding team members accountable for meeting expectations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to reduce defects and rework
  • Ensure effective training and development of quality control personnel
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring adherence to company safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in quality control within a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Must be versed in AWS D1.1/D1.2 and drawing standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues rationally and make informed decisions
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of integrity and ethical decision-making
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality control documentation systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) a plus
  • Experience working in an ERP/MRP system is a plus

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
This position requires moderate physical activity in a manufacturing and office environment. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently seated at a computer desk, is utilizing a phone, and participating in meetings with colleagues. Walking extended distances from location to location in the factory complex and meeting with people in noisy or congested areas will be a common occurrence. The employee must be able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 40 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. 


Compensation

$30.00 to $40.00 per hour, Depending on experience and qualifications.

Location

This is an onsite position is based out of the Dogwood Sedro-Woolley Factory Office at 500 Metcalf St, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. There may be travel to the Dogwood Everett, WA Factory as needed.
