A deep understanding of AWS D1.1/D1.2, drawing standards, and heavy manufacturing is critical for success in this role.
The QC Supervisor is expected to uphold and promote strong ethical standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the quality control team at the Sedro-Woolley facility, ensuring all fabrication work meets Dogwood's quality expectations and industry standards
- Serve as the face of Dogwood's quality assurance program, interacting with customers, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.2 and other relevant standards, reviewing drawings and specifications to maintain consistency and accuracy
- Oversee inspection processes, including first article, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions are implemented
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and project management teams to resolve quality issues and proactively improve processes
- Set high ethical and quality standards, holding team members accountable for meeting expectations
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to reduce defects and rework
- Ensure effective training and development of quality control personnel
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring adherence to company safety policies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in quality control within a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
- Must be versed in AWS D1.1/D1.2 and drawing standards
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues rationally and make informed decisions
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of integrity and ethical decision-making
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality control documentation systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience developing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) a plus
- Experience working in an ERP/MRP system is a plus
