Job Title: Level 2 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Dogwood Industries is seeking a Level 2 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) at our Sedro-Woolley facility to enhance in-house inspection capabilities.
This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance with AWS D1 standards. The ideal candidate will have experience performing visual (VT), magnetic particle (MT), and ultrasonic (UT) inspections, and collaborating with engineering, fabrication, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement in welding quality and processes.
Responsibilities
- Implement inspection while executing and documenting specific test plans.
- Perform VT, MT, and UT inspections to ensure all welds meet AWS D1 standards.
- Verify weld quality, dimensions, and structural integrity according to project specifications.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records of weld inspections, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions.
- Ensure that welding team members are qualified in conformance to the applicable standards and are re-qualified as required to use the specified procedures.
- Perform and document weld procedure specifications and welder operator qualification tests.
- Create and maintain quality control records, documents, and logs using electronic record keeping to the greatest extent practical.
- Maintain an expectation of quality, safety, and urgency to achieve excellent production outcomes.
- Read work instructions and/or drawings to interpret and confirm production requirements.
- Verify that materials and consumables are in conformance to specifications.
- Verify that equipment utilized is appropriate for the work in production, is properly calibrated, and meets the requirements of the applicable procedure.
- Perform first article, visual, and dimensional checks at all stages of production.
Requirements
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience in steel fabrication or general construction.
- 2 , AISC, and welding procedure development.
- Experience performing visual (VT), magnetic particle (MT), and ultrasonic (UT) inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and shop drawings.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
