This position has over 30 direct reports all working together towards the goals of this multifaceted operation. The Dolan Auto Group consists of seven legal entities, privately held.
The Controller possesses a unique mix of excellent analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate effectively with and influence senior management. Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to drive complex operational initiatives as well as employee engagement strategies. The ability to pivot with an ever changing industry is crucial.
This candidate provides daily support to our accounting office staff to ensure accurate reporting of transactions across all dealerships. This position requires a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Reports directly to the CFO and supervises assigned staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of all tasks. The controller will create an engaging work environment in our business office and coordinate with department managers in all dealerships to provide the support and assistance necessary to meet the goals of the group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review of financial statements for all dealerships on a monthly basis.
- Interview, hire, manage, mentor and train accounting office personnel.
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and expenses allocated properly.
- Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly and recorded properly.
- Maintain control of all cash receipts and bank deposits to limit risk.
- Integrate with HR for payroll processing, and review quarterly and annual payroll tax returns/filings for accuracy.
- Ensure all monthly reconciliations are completed in a timely fashion (bank statement, work in process, inventories, and all schedules.
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Verify/oversee that monthly sales tax reports, unclaimed property filings, state and local tax filings, and other monthly and quarterly reporting requirements are completed accurately and timely.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting systems.
- Oversee accurate recording of sales, completion of title work, and timely submission of all payments, contracts, and/or drafts required to receive funding.
- Maintain adequate records for all prepaid and accruals, fixed assets, and loan/lease agreements.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.

Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelors degree from four year college or university in accounting or related discipline.
- Minimum five years relevant accounting experience. Preferably demonstrating progression in role.
- Strong leadership, high character, strong work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work flexible hours.
- Expert level knowledge with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word, and is expected to familiarize themselves with additional accounting software programs if necessary.
- Masters Degree / CPA preferred.
