JOB SUMMARY
The Materials & Inventory Manager is responsible for establishing and implementing policies and procedures that promote the effective use of company inventory and balance operational execution with capital efficiency. This role will also eventually select, develop, train, and evaluate the performance of team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and material control systems to optimize efficiency and reduce costs
- Create and publish regular inventory reports and analyses
- Identify and maintain proper inventory levels to balance capital efficiency with operational readiness
- Identify best practices in materials and warehouse management and collaborate with field operations to implement these initiatives
- Actively participate in digital transformation efforts and provide leadership around design, implementation, and operation of new systems and advanced capabilities supporting materials and inventory management
- Identify, implement, and manage opportunities for vendor managed inventory (VMI)
- Design and implement material replenishment methodologies
- Manage the disposal or refurbishment of excess and obsolete inventory
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in warehouse and inventory management or a related role required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of inventory accounting
- A strong desire for process improvement; challenges the status quo
- Demonstrates ability to understand, interpret, and monitor key financial and operational performance indicators
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
- Ability to compile and present analytical data in an organized manner
- Ability to distill complex data into concise and easily understood concepts and recommendations
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, company’s ethics code of conduct, and other company policies and procedures

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage and influence with all levels of the organization
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Ability to travel to various worksites on occasion, and/or to attend meetings or training
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently
- Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
