Job Title: Fleet Supervisor
Reports to: Fleet Manager
Supervises: Private Fleet Drivers
General Summary:
The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day transportation operations, managing drivers, ensuring on-time store deliveries, tractor utilization, inbound reverse logistics, and safe and legal driver operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned drivers to deliver results, including on-time delivery, safety compliance, and utilization.
- Champion driver retention by building and maintaining driver relationships through understanding and meeting driver needs, such as home time, payroll, utility issues, equipment breakdowns, logging violations, and equipment maintenance.
- Manage safety by adhering to Federal, State, local, and organizational rules and regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety by evaluating the safety performance of all employees and ensuring proper safety measures are in place, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proven leadership and in-depth knowledge of dedicated transportation operations, FMCSA, and DOT regulations.
- Understanding of Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program.
- Strong communication, listening, interpersonal problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills.
- High attention to detail, strong planning, and organization skills.
- Understand driver logs, hours of service, and dedicated operations.
- Proficient in using transportation optimization software for routing, tendering, scheduling, and shipment tracking.
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment.
- Must know MS Office software.
- 10% travel required.
Work Experience &/or Education:
One to three years of onsite driver management experience preferred.
One year of Driver Dispatch Management System (satellite dispatch systems) experience with McLeod, TMW, Telogis, Dispatch Tracks, or AS400.
