CNC Lathe Technician

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm Hours per week: 40
Reporting Relationships: CNC Programmer/Design Engineer Hourly: Non-Exempt
Primary purpose of job:
Responsible for the setup/operation of various Swiss and CNC Lathe machinery for one off and full production runs. Supports the stamping department with repairs, new tool builds, and fixturing needs.
Essential functions of job:
· Understand all department policies, procedures, and guidelines while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
· Setup, program and operate CNC lathes, and Tsugami Swiss machines. This includes choosing proper tooling and work holding fixtures along with creating, loading, and editing programs.
· Maintain quality standards by performing multiple (1st, during production, and last article) inspections.
· Maintain all CNC equipment by performing operator level preventative maintenance along with keeping the work environment organized and clean.
· Work closely with Design/Programming Engineer to improve efficiency throughout all machining operations.
Required skills and abilities:
· Ability to follow instructions and procedures while having a positive attitude.
· Skilled in using QC equipment such as indicators, calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages.
· Proficient with blueprint reading and GD&T.
· Proficient with different types of tooling used in CNC machines.
· Must be effective with setting up various CNC machines.
· Must be able to effectively multitask while managing several projects.
· Demonstrate a strong “team player” mentality.
· Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in busy circumstances. Owning assignments and taking full accountability for all results.
Education and Experience:
· HS Diploma or GED
· Minimum 2 years of CNC setup and operating.
· Experience with Swiss and HAAS lathe operations a must.
· Experience with Mastercam a plus.
Physical Demands:
· This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, technical machine operation.
· Safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper foot protection must be worn.
· Ability to lift weights up to 45 lbs
