Executive Director
Domestic Violence Intervention Program/Rape Victim Advocacy Program
Reports to the DVIP/RVAP Board of Directors
The Domestic Violence Intervention Program/Rape Victim Advocacy Program is seeking a passionate and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its mission by overseeing all aspects of operations including program development, fundraising, financial management, and staff supervision; reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in non-profit management, and a deep commitment to our cause.
The Mission of DVIP/RVAP is to provide comprehensive support and advocacy services to victims/survivors, focusing on immediate and long-term safety, empowerment, dignity, and hope. In collaboration with the community, we strive to end interpersonal violence through education, accountability, and social justice.
The Executive Director of DVIP & RVAP is the primary guide for developing the vision for the work—identifying the future that DVIP & RVAP is working to bring to life—and for setting the tone of the organization—fostering a culture that cares for both clients and staff to the highest standard possible. The Executive Director accomplishes these functions by maintaining expertise in gender-based violence, victim-survivor services and by carrying out executive administrative functions related to personnel, finances, and facilities. The Executive Director serves as the primary public representative of the organization.
DVIP/RVAP is a private non-profit organization that serves eight Southeastern Iowa Counties, providing 24-hour emergency crisis intervention services and outreach support to more than 3000 adults and youth annually. Our annual operating budget is approximately $4million and we employ 45 FTE staff.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
· Create, sustain, and communicate the vision for the organization
· Nurture a healthy culture within the organization
· Uphold standards of ethics for the organization
· Oversee project management for current initiatives
· Lead planning for the future
· Lead organizational response in crisis or critical times
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission
Executive Administration of a Nonprofit
· Provide financial oversight for organization
· Oversee all aspects of program operations and ensure quality service delivery
· Communicate with the Board of Directors.
· Uphold and enforce relevant laws, policies, and principles related to human resources
Serve as Ambassador for the Organization
· Build community in support of victim/survivor services
· Work productively with diverse groups, from clients to law enforcement to funders
Nonprofit Fundraising and Financial Sustainability
- Lead fundraising efforts including grant writing, donor cultivation, and major gift campaigns
· Understand the funding environment
· Oversee the management of large grant funds, contracts, and reporting requirements
· Oversee the organizational budget and fiscal health of the organization
Leadership and Team Collaboration
· Serve as a key advisor to the DVIP/RVAP leadership team, facilitating coordination and collaboration across departments.
· Support senior leaders in managing priorities, resolving issues, and ensuring the organization’s strategic goals are being met.
· Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and performance across DVIP/RVAP.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, advanced degree in non-profit management or a related field preferred, or a combination of education and experience is highly regarded.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit leadership roles
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
