The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This position is in the Bureau of External Affairs and reports to the Director of Policy, Innovation and Professional Education within the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. Duties include but may not be limited to: • Develop curriculum, training materials, and guidance documents for Public Assistance (PA) staff on the elimination of the credibility assessment and the use of a newly created screening tool.• Develop updated curriculum, training materials and guidance documents for PA staff on survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices when interacting with survivors of gender-based violence.• Provide continued training and technical assistance to PA staff on the elimination of the credibility assessment and the use of a newly created screening tool.• Provide continued training and technical assistance to PA staff on survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices when interacting with survivors of gender-based violence.• Assist the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) in expanding the work and learnings of the Safe Access for Victims’ Economic Security (SAVES) demonstration into the Public Assistance program.• Facilitate collaboration between local Public Assistance programs and gender-based violence service providers to make appropriate referrals when an applicant is identified as a survivor of gender-based violence.• Conduct research through coordination with OTDA to develop policy recommendations for social services systems.• Identify and implement opportunities for systems change within the PA system to better serve survivors of gender-based violence.• Strategize with OTDA on policy and practice implications, and the rollout and sustainability of the new processes.• Ensure that all new processes align with the three pillars.• Work with senior staff to ensure this work aligns with OPDV’s mission.• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities. • Perform other duties and special projects as required.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience* in the provision of domestic or gender-based violence prevention services; the provision of human services, training and education, government, social justice or gender-based advocacy services; or public policy research and development OR one year of permanent service as a Gender Violence Prevention Specialist 1.*Substitutions: A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; or a Ph.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience.
