The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Deputy Executive Director for Gender Violence Prevention & Programming of the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, this position is responsible for overseeing and supervising programming focused on furthering trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally-responsive services for victims and survivors of gender-based violence; and for program planning and implementation and contract oversight in these areas, including the supervision of all staff under these projects. Duties may include but not be limited to: • Oversee the coordination of planning, development, and monitoring of grant programs dedicated to the provision of response and prevention services to victims and survivors of gender-based violence.• Manage and coordinate interagency initiatives to further effective service provision for victims and survivors of gender-based violence.• Approve grant proposals, revisions, and contracts.• Manage outside consultants and vendors as needed.• Direct research-based initiatives dedicated to centering survivor’s voices in New York State’s work to end gender-based violence and to improve gender-based violence service provision across the state.• Conduct training on all the above programs as necessary.• Collaborate with other senior staff as necessary on interdisciplinary projects.• Represent the agency at executive level meetings and task forces involving domestic, sexual, and other forms of gender-based violence.• Assist in the preparation of the annual agency budget for the Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Programming Bureau.• Supervise the provision of technical assistance to state and local agencies and community groups in implementing effective support and response for survivors of gender-based violence.• Supervise staff charged with survivor response and primary prevention activities.• Perform other duties and special projects as required.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Eight years of experience* in the provision of domestic or gender-based violence prevention services; the provision of human services, training and education, government, social justice or gender-based advocacy services; or public policy research and development, of which one year was at a supervisory level OR one year of permanent service as a Gender Violence Prevention Specialist 2.*Substitutions: A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; or a Ph.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in providing trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive services directly to victims and survivors of gender-based violence. This is a new position in response to the expansion of NYS Gender-Based Violence and the Workplace initiative announced by Governor Hochul in the 2025 State of the State therefore preference will be given to applicants who have engaged employers in the development of gender-based violence and the workplace polices.
