Job Details

  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced Cardiac Stepdown RN for a travel assignment.
  • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience.

    • Job Requirements

  • Hold an active BLS certification.
  • Hold an active ACLS certification.
  • Hold an active NIHSS certification.
  • Hold an active California nursing license.

    • Schedule Information

  • Contract length : 13 weeks.
  • Shifts : 7a-7p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a.
  • Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend (Fri / Sat nights, Sat / Sun for days).
  • Holidays : Every other holiday rotating.

    • Unit Specific Information

  • Floor specific orientation : 3 shifts on the unit.

    • Additional Details

  • Stepdown nurses needed, not med / tele.
  • Unit : TCU- True Stepdown Unit - Telemetry, cardiac intervention unit and tele overflow.
  • beds : 20 tele beds, 16 cardiac intervention beds and 8 overflow tele beds.
  • Ratios : 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 based on acuity.
  • EMR : Cerner.
  • Charge Nurse : Yes run with no patients.
  • Nurse Aides : Run 1 per every 12 patients; run 3 with full unit.
  • Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Post cath patients both clean and interventions; post TEE, Post cardioversion, ablations, AICD, sometimes external temp pacer patients, sometimes transcutaneous pacing, chest tubes, tube feedings, lots of drains.
