We are seeking a Groundskeeper to join our Facilities team.
SUMMARY:
Assists with grounds maintenance of the Marywood Campus, including extensive landscaped flower beds and turf areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operates daily commercial lawn trimming, edging and backpack blowing equipment.
- Operates large commercial lawn mowing equipment.
- Operates snow removal equipment (i.e. push behind salt spreader, snow blower and shovel).
- Must be available for snow events to clear campus as needed.
- Plants and maintains annuals and perennials in garden beds and planters.
- Weeds and waters landscape areas as needed.
- Prunes as needed/directed.
- Replants and transplants as projects arise.
- Responsible for spring and fall clean ups.
- Assists with mulch installation.
- Assists facilities maintenance staff from time to time as directed.
- Must be able to function independently as well as with a team, have a positive attitude and be willing to learn.
- Requires initiative, independence, and judgment to carry out recurring assignments.
- Assist in establishing a native landscape habitat.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Above average manual dexterity and skills.
- Ability to safely operate commercial lawn and snow equipment.
- Ability to safely operate hand, electrical and power tools.
- Previous experience in the position responsibilities is desirable.
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent physical exertion, i.e., frequent heavy lifting up to 60lbs, climbing, carrying supplies, walking throughout the grounds, occasionally working on ladders.
- Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
