Position Summary: The physical sciences department at Dominican University seeks applicants for the position of full-time lecturer of chemistry. We are seeking someone enthusiastic about gaining or expanding their skills teaching introductory chemistry courses, both lecture as well as laboratory sections, and who has a commitment to serving a diverse student body.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The courses that will be prioritized are CHEM101 Introduction to General Chemistry, both lecture and laboratory and CHEM104 Introduction to Organic Chemistry, both lecture and laboratory.
- The course load for lecturers is 24 credits across two semesters. Teaching-related responsibilities, such as mentoring adjunct faculty as well as supervising laboratory assistants and other student workers, will be expected.
- Responsibilities will also include laboratory curriculum design and laboratory prep. Most courses will be taught in face-to-face modality, but some familiarity with online teaching is also appreciated.
- At least a Master's Degree in a chemistry discipline.
- Provide evidence of teaching experience at the college level with diverse undergraduate students.
- Provide evidence of teaching excellence in culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy designed to reach a diverse student body.
- Experience in teaching introductory chemistry courses (lecture and laboratory sections).
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
- SALARY: $55,440 - $59,000 annually
