Job Summary
The DESC High School Student Worker program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about Gas Operations with an energy utility provider, specifically within a gas crew quarter with gas operations technician employees. The Student Worker will be asked to participate in the following tasks in Operations, under the direct supervision of a DESC Gas Operations mentor in Charleston, South Carolina:

Must be a rising Junior or Senior high school student with a graduation date of May 2026 or 2027.
Valid driver's license preferred

Job Summary
The DESC High School Student Worker program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about Gas Operations with an energy utility provider, specifically within a gas crew quarter with gas operations technician employees. The Student Worker will be asked to participate in the following tasks in Operations, under the direct supervision of a DESC Gas Operations mentor in Charleston, South Carolina:
- Stocking the Company truck with materials
- Retrieving and carrying tools and materials
- Assemble material using hand and power tools
- Digging with shovels and post hole diggers
- Use safety equipment, processes, and procedures
- Job site clean-up
Operations Student Worker Job Requirements include:
- Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
- Extensive walking
- Entering/exiting the Company vehicle
- Some heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
- A good mechanical aptitude including experience with common hand and power tools
- Effective communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to take measurements and follow instructions
- Must adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate work boots (substantial, closed upper portion (such as leather) with a slip resistant sole) and company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (such as gloves, safety glasses, and reflective vest.)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior high school student with a graduation date of May 2026 or 2027.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (verified by guidance counselor or student report card).
- Must be at least 16 years of age by the time the student begins work with the Company.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksite.
- Satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
