About the role
The role of an Estimator is critical to the pre-construction phase of projects. Estimators support Senior Estimators and Construction Project Managers in determining the costs associated with construction projects. They analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates and bids. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a foundational understanding of construction methods and materials are essential for success in this role. It requires a combination of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and effective communication to contribute to the successful execution of construction projects.
What you'll do
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services required for construction projects.
- Support preparing bid packages and proposals in response to client requirements and specifications.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications to accurately assess materials and labor requirements.
- Assist in soliciting quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and related correspondence.
- Work closely w i th project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies .
- Utilize construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating) proficiently to streamline the estimation process and enhance accuracy.
