Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Management and Sales to coordinate production schedules, ensuring product alignment for shipping availability.
- Maintains a safe work environment by ensuring all employees adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Continuously monitors the quality of finished products and communicates findings to management.
- Plans, forecasts, and manages budgetary items, including both fixed and variable expenses.
- Coordinates monthly inventory counts of parts and lumber with the Accounting department, ensuring accuracy in inventory records.
- Demonstrates strong leadership to support the achievement of management's strategic objectives.
- Oversees the quality control and cleanliness of combustible dust and materials to maintain safety and compliance.
- Manages all aspects of departmental rolling stock and vehicle within the department.
- Collaborates with machine operators to ensure equipment is functioning properly and promptly addresses any issues or concerns.
- Discusses maintenance needs with the Maintenance Superintendent and initiates work orders as necessary.
- Drives high production levels of quality products while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.
- Upholds and enforces rigorous housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
- Oversees employee training and certification to ensure competency in job-specific tasks.
- Completes individual assignments and special projects as directed by management.
- Fosters positive working relationships within the department, across the company, and within the community.
- Adheres to environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Maintains professional knowledge, ethical standards, and job-specific skills necessary for successful performance.
- Performs duties in accordance with established safety protocols and best practices.
- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance in alignment with established work schedules and company policy.
- Performs job responsibilities in a manner that does not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self, others, or property. A direct threat is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be mitigated through reasonable accommodation without imposing undue hardship on the company.
- Operates in a constant state of alertness and maintains a commitment to safety at all times.
- College degree preferred, minimum high school diploma or GED.
- 10 years of experience in a lumber manufacturing process.
- Demonstrated experience with using computers.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Background in lumber production.
- Working knowledge of kiln & planner equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control program.
- Work is performed in a lumber mill environment.
- Employee must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear.
- Employee must be able to maintain a constant state of alertness and sustain concentration for extended periods of time.
