The location in Johnsonburg, (Pennsylvania, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Wood Procurement Forester. This job is full-time permanent.
Your Role:
As part of our team, this individual will have various responsibilities in accordance with established deadlines to sustainably procure pulpwood and quality chips necessary to meet the production demands of the mill at the lowest cost.
Duties associated with this position are as follows:
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 8 years’ experience in wood procurement, wood supply, logging costs, forest operations management, or other relevant experience. The successful candidate will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong negotiating skills, and analytical/problem solving skills. They will also need to work with minimal supervision, be well organized, and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting budget requirements and deadlines.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related field; Valid driver’s license with safe driving record; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
You will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).

Your Role:

Duties associated with this position are as follows:
- Negotiating wood supply, establishing pricing, and delivery terms.
- Build relationships with loggers, wood suppliers and others in the wood supply chain.
- Work closely with suppliers to assure continuity of wood supply to match mill usage rates.
- Manage inventory and oversee operations at satellite chipping facilities.
- Work within budget frameworks to establish cost/volume goals and forecasts.
- Work with suppliers, the wood procurement team, and other departments in the Johnsonburg mill to ensure that all relevant safety standards are adhered to during mill operations and wood delivery.
- Assist the department in maintaining FSC, SFI, and PEFC certifications for raw material supply.
- Develop competency with our LIMS supplier payment and fiber tracking software.
- Effectively respond to and manage changes in a dynamic supply chain.
- Ability to conduct field visits and traverse moderate terrain in all seasons.
- Model Domtar’s values of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in negotiations with wood suppliers, contractors and others as a representative of the Domtar Johnsonburg Mill and Wood Procurement Team.
