Donut Den is a single-location donut shop in Joliet, Illinois, that local families, businesspeople, and individuals count on for great donuts.
In you, Donut Den has found a reliable, diligent, and hardworking baker to help us serve the people and businesses of Joliet by producing high quality donuts. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring that our store is stocked and orders are filled with the tasty donuts that Donut Den customers have come to know and love. As a Baker, you report to the Manager, working closely with other Bakers and Team Members. From time to time, you also interface with suppliers and customers. In your capacity as Baker, you will:
- Fry cake donuts, raised donuts, fritters, specialty donuts, French crullers, and other donut varieties.
- Fill, glaze, powder, ice, sprinkle, and decorate all varieties of donuts.
- Stock the store shelves.
- Pack orders for customers, when needed.
- Operate the proof box, fryers, icing machines, filing machines, and hand tools.
- Assist other bakers with mixing, cutting, and other prep and production tasks.
- Clean equipment daily and maintain a tidy workplace.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe storeroom.
- Check-in deliveries and stock the storeroom.
- Work in a team, coordinating production with other Bakers, Team Members, and management.
- Provide input for the purchase of raw materials, goods, and equipment.
- Meet customer expectations by conducting other duties related to production, sales, service, and sanitation.
Hours
- Overnight, typically 12 midnight to 8am or 7pm to 3am, but start and end times will vary.
- Hours may be fewer during the week and longer on weekends.
- Longer hours leading up to, and on holidays including Paczki Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
- Longer hours based on customer demand and large orders.
Education, Experience, and Certification
- Food Handler certificate required. If you do not have a certificate, Donut Den will sponsor you.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Must be a self-starter and able to work at a fast pace independently.
- Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions, several concrete variables.
- Must be able to perform simple addition and subtraction, copying figures, counting, and recording.
- Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20
- pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling,
- Lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
