What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Design Manager, Merchant Experience position at DoorDash USA?
About the Team
At the heart of DoorDash, the Merchant Experience team crafts the tools and services that empower merchants to thrive. Our mission is to be an indispensable partner, helping merchants—from local favorites to global brands—succeed on DoorDash. Whether it's streamlining in-store operations or delivering powerful solutions for business management, we aim to redefine what’s possible for merchants everywhere.
About the Role
We’re seeking an exceptional leader to elevate the Merchant Experience at DoorDash. In this pivotal role, you’ll take ownership of the core merchant experience, leading the design of intuitive solutions that span in-store operations, back-office performance analytics, financial reconciliation, and issue resolution. As a strategic leader, you will work with cross-functional partners to drive the product strategy and deliver an intuitive and cohesive experience for our merchants. As a team leader, you’ll manage a team of talented product designers and build a world-class design culture everyone wants to be a part of.
You'll report to the Head of Merchant Design. We expect this role to be hybrid, working 1-2 days weekly from one of our Design hubs -- San Francisco, Seattle, and New York City.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Partner with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to define the vision and strategy for our Merchant Experience products.
- Actively practice and evangelize customer-centric thinking throughout the entire org. Your mission is to improve the livelihood of DoorDash merchants every day.
- Partner with the design leadership team to build a holistic design strategy for the 3-sided marketplace ecosystem.
- Align the team’s priorities and deliverables to our overarching strategy and goals.
- Manage, develop, and hire a team of talented product designers.
- Coach and mentor designers on both soft and hard skills and help them develop and achieve career goals.
- Build a culture that elevates the team, in terms of both performance and morale.
- Establish an operating model that increases the team’s effectiveness.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have 10 years of experience in design, with 3 years in team building and people management.
- You have a track record of delivering well-executed products and driving meaningful business impact.
- You're an advocate for craft and customer-centricity, and bring a strong design voice.
- You’re passionate about making a difference in the local community.
- You’re a playmaker, not just a role player. You visualize and articulate a clear design strategy to cross-functional partners.
- You thrive in complex product ecosystems.
- You are experienced in managing executive leadership.
- You are skilled at building a high-performing team and attracting top talents.
- You are a culture carrier and a good mentor.
