What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARK RANGER (PT) PINE TRACE PARK -VARIOUS SHIFTS position at Dorchester County?
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Park Rangers will monitor and help ensure safe and appropriate use of park and recreation facilities. This position will serve as a field customer service officer, patrol assigned areas, enforce policies and assist emergency agencies responding to the park. Park Rangers will also perform all related duties as required. This position requires late night hours, weekend and holiday work.
- Open and close public access to assigned park facilities
- Perform periodic walking patrols to ensure visitor compliance with the rules and regulations of Dorchester County Parks and Recreation Department
- Check buildings, vehicles, fences and gates to ensure that all property of DCPRD is secured and locked
- Respond to building alarms as a key holder for the Police and Fire Department
- Submit written reports to include but not limited to: Activity Logs and Incident Reports
- Handle visitor’s complaints and suggestions and communicate them to the Director or designated staff.
- Notify the Police, Fire, EMS or Management in case of an emergency
- Verify the operations of nighttime equipment such as night lighting and communicate needs via nightly log
- Conduct periodic patrols of facilities at night for unauthorized use of the park and its facilities
- Notify the appropriate personnel or agency upon the discovery of an unusual event or activity
- Work special events and activities as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
Must have a valid vehicle operator’s license.
