SUMMARY: To ensure for a timely and accurate management of cage operations, including supervision of the cashiering staff and receipt, distribution, exchange, transfer, inventory, and balancing of money/assets. To manage cage operations in compliance with the Colorado Limited Gaming Act and other applicable municipal, state and federal laws or regulations. To consistently and diplomatically maintain good public relations with casino CUSTOMERS and TEAM MEMBERS. To maintain and comply with safety and security standards. Scheduling and maintenance of cage, coin room and all equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Scheduling and supervision of casino cage. Requires knowledge of casino operation and awareness of events that may impact staffing requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining casino cash at a level required for casino operation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Performs duties in compliance with all safety procedures. Identifies unsafe practices or conditions and reports them to the safety committee.
- Manages cage cashiers in the timely and accurate receipt, distribution, exchange, transfer, inventory, and balancing of money/assets.
- Manages and develops an effective staff by hiring, training, scheduling, rewarding and disciplining staff. Develops staff to meet and exceed performance expectations by establishing and maintaining a positive work morale and effective employee relations. Manages a staff of ten or more in the cage operations.
- Manages staff in developing and maintaining effective working relationships and good customer service skills with all GUESTS and TEAM MEMBERS.
- Ensures that staff accurately counts and verifies customer winnings and requests to exchange or receive currency or coin. Acts to keep customers satisfied and motivated to return whether they win or lose.
- Responsible for investigating cage overages and shortages as required.
- Responsible for requesting or maintaining cage personnel in all software applications.
- Follows established security protocols to ensure that casino work environment is safe.
- Manages cage operations in compliance with departmental polices and procedures, the STATE of COLORADO LIMITED GAMING ACT, and other applicable municipal, state and federal laws or regulations.
- Completes, maintains a record of daily or scheduled reports on cage operations, as they are requested or required.
- Maintains alertness for the performance of all responsibilities, and a general awareness of casino operations at all times.
- Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and directed.
- Responsible for knowing, understanding, and training the Colorado Internal Control Minimum Procedures applicable to this department.
16. UNDERAGE GAMBLING / UNDERAGE DRINKING / CHECKING ID’s: It is your responsibility to ensure no person under the age of twenty-one (21) is consuming any alcoholic beverages, gambling, lingering in a gaming area or sitting in a gaming area. This guideline includes underage and off-duty employees. The best way to assure compliance is to ask for ID. Remember, many people look older than they really are. If anyone looks like they are under thirty-five (35) years of age, you are to ask for their ID. If you have questions about any ID call the Key on Duty. In addition, you will be responsible to attend the annual retraining of Underage Gambling, Alcohol and checking of ID’s.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated thorough knowledge of casino operations and the Colorado Limited Gaming Act. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, which includes contacts with staff members, guests, and State of Colorado Gaming and other regulatory officials. Demonstrated extensive experience persuading and negotiating. Demonstrated experience performing within specific deadlines or under pressure. Demonstrated experience problem solving, organizing and prioritizing work. Demonstrated experience supervising cashiers, preferably in a gaming, banking or customer service environment. Demonstrated experience receiving, handling, counting and reconciling, and distributing large sums of money. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, which includes contacts with employees and customers. Demonstrated experience supervising and motivating staff.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Three (3) or more years of recent and related casino experience, preferably in cage operations. Three (3) or more years of related managerial experience, preferably within a gaming environment. High School Diploma or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills using English.
REASONING ABILITY: Makes recommendations, beyond the scope of essential duties, which may positively or negatively impact the operations of other departments.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid and current State of Colorado Key Gaming License or be eligible to receive one and must be willing to apply for said license immediately. Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License, with a good driving record and must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES: No additional skills are necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion; dexterity handling cash money and coins, frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching and pushing various materials, equipment and supplies in order to perform duties; and frequently, for up to several hours, sitting and/or standing throughout an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties may require lifting up to 50 pounds and working a flexible workweek with additional hours on a non-routine basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Essential duties involve working with large numbers of people while primarily in an inside environment, which are frequently loud or containing high noise levels.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: Various gaming related equipment including money trays, cash, coins, and coin counting machines. General office equipment including computers, fax machines, photocopiers, and adding machine.
