Job Summary
Assistant Retail Manager will manage all retail operations under the direction of the Director of Retail Operations, including scheduling, coaching, disciplinary actions, inventories, staff support, training, customer service, stocking and restocking, organization and rotation of stock, merchandising and display set ups, retail equipment support, pricing and tagging of merchandise, report generation and logistical support as well as other duties related to the retailing operations at the Double JJ Resort.
This position will also coordinate and run activities for resort guests and visitors, groups and corporate clients as well as assist with team building exercises as needed by the Sales and Events Team.
The Assistant Retail Manager(s) will focus on specific outlets as directed by the Director of Retail Operations but will continue to have responsibility for the overall retail operation of the Resort. The Assistant Retail Manager will communicate directly with the Director of Retail Operations and support the goals set by the Resort Leadership.
Essential Duties and Functions
- Assist in the management of retail associates, effectively delegating the duties of the department while controlling labor and expenses.
- Ensure all associates checklists and duties are performed for all retail outlets daily.
- Train and ensure all retail associates are competent and capable of carrying out all retail associate duties.
- Execute all Resort activities associated with Retail Operations to a high degree of guest/customer satisfaction.
- Attend meetings and participate in communication that enables the management teams of the Resort to work productively with Retail Operations.
- Clean, organize and maintain all areas associated with Retail Operations and ensure they are functional and optimized for retail sales.
- Conduct inventories of all retail merchandise and produce reports from the acquired data.
- Schedule, coach and hold accountable all retail associates with the oversite of the Director of Retail Operations.
- Provide support for other duties as needed as requested by the department director or Resort Leadership.
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
- Must be proficient with retail type software with a good knowledge of retail procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead associates to complete tasks and duties in effective and efficient manners.
- Personable and professional with excellent communication skills
- Organized and detail oriented with high expectations for quality.
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and it must be maintained throughout employment.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays and peak business periods as needed.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance per the Resorts Employee Handbook including professional and appropriate attire.
- Ability to meet the expectation of working 45-50 hours per week or more as needed by business demands.
- High School diploma required, 2–4-year degree or professional experience equivalent preferred
- Able to lift, hold or move 40 lbs.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
