Description
The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for a Personal Property Manager. The purpose of this position is to manage the production of the personal property and mobile home tax digests in compliance with mandated statutes, codes, and regulations.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential Tasks
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Meets and confers with the public, colleagues, and supervisors on overall administrative and property assessment concerns.
- Performs personal property audits; processes reporting forms.
- Reviews and approves contract audits and tax bills.
- Develops and presents defense strategies for contract audits.
- Assists the general public, appraisers, and other professionals with tax-related questions or concerns.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related major.
- Four (4) years of auditing, accounting, appraisal or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Georgia State Appraiser I Certification.
