- Reviews commercial and residential electrical construction documents for compliance with adopted codes.
- Reviews electrical load calculations, circuit designs, and assesses appropriate fees. Performs data entry to create, approve, and issue electrical permits.
- Indicates when changes, alternative methods of construction, or additional information is needed to meet the intent of the electrical code and contacts the appropriate parties.
- Interpret and apply codes, regulations, and standards to complex and unique electrical design and construction scenarios.
- Communicates and collaborates with other divisions, departments, jurisdictions, and metro districts to ensure that all parties involved have been notified and/or approve of the issuance of the building permit while fostering and maintaining professional relations with aforementioned organizations.
- Answers questions for design professionals, contractors, and the public regarding electrical codes, permitting processes and general inspection procedures.
- Consistently takes responsibility for ensuring that the process remains timely within the established division’s expectations for turnaround and customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Must have five years of related experience including three years of experience must be in electrical plans examination, inspection, or related field.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
