This position meets with prospective clients and provides a variety of professional screens and assessments to determine program eligibility, identify participant’s risks and needs, and make recommendations through oral and written reports for individual diversion plans. - Performs intakes and the screening and assessment of clients.
- Participates in case staffing with the clinical and non-clinical diversion team to determine the most appropriate level of intervention.
- Collaborates with diversion team and program participants to create individual plans outlining program requirements and treatment goals.
- Works in conjunction with program participants to promote successful completion of their individualized program goals and/or treatment plans.
- May provide suggestions regarding type of supervision needed.
- Completes initial intake plan and recommendations in participant electronic files and completes all other required paperwork or documentation pertinent to the intake process and maintains participant confidentiality.
- Educates client and family regarding the justice system and consequences of further legal involvement.
- May assist with data collection and reporting related to grant reports and applications.
- Formulates case conceptualization and case presentations to supervisors, co-workers and outside agencies.
- Refers clients who may be in crisis at intake process to appropriate agencies and/or offers crisis information when needed.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and bi-annual retreats, various conferences and professional training seminars.
- Presents material about program services and/or relevant topics to schools and community service agencies.
- Participates in on-going individual and/or group supervision with Diversion Director, Diversion Supervisor, peers and/or clinical consultant(s).

- Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, human services or a related field.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible screening and assessment duties involving direct service provision with adults, juveniles and families.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) preferred.
- Familiarity or interest in juvenile justice systems and mental health trends.
- Considerable knowledge of screening and assessment tools, application and best practices.
- Ability to coordinate with community agencies and resources, understand and explain program components to clients, families and outside agencies.
- Must be able to analyze problems, make recommendations for effective solutions, establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Effective oral and written communication, ability to multi-task, self-driven and accountable to supervision.
- Works as a member of a high-functioning, self-directed team.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
