Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Intake Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient intake processes, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient communication between patients and healthcare providers. This position requires a strong understanding of medical records, dental terminology, and familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-9. The Intake Specialist will contribute to the overall patient experience by facilitating smooth transitions into care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of patient documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Manage the intake process for new patients, including gathering necessary medical records and information.
- Utilize electronic health record systems, such as Epic or Eaglesoft, to input and manage patient data.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their appointments, insurance coverage, and any required documentation.
- Collaborate with medical billing teams to verify insurance eligibility and coverage details.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in training new staff on intake procedures and documentation protocols.
- Stay updated on changes in Medicare policies and dental terminology relevant to the role.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an intake or administrative role.
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation review processes.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and ICD-9 coding is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using computerized systems for data entry and management.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
