DESCRIPTION
Performs difficult work providing professional management of network data, voice, infrastructure and related security operations. Designs, implements, and maintains systems ensures resources are maintained with integrity and efficiency; monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and safeguards against vulnerabilities.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams in developing and enforcing policies and procedures to enhance overall system security and support organizational goals.
- Plans, develops, maintains, and administers network infrastructures and systems; plans, determines, and implements network hardware/software configurations including wireless, switches, routers, and cabling.
- Diagnoses and resolves connectivity issues, network outages and performance problems. Conducts root-cause analysis and deploys necessary fixes.
- Manages, configures, and monitors the organization's cybersecurity systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and secure network gateways, to safeguard sensitive data and assets from internal and external threats.
- Ensure data assets are available for use by applications and business clients, recoverable in the advent of system failures and secure from a possible breach.
- Plans and executes network upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance to ensure the infrastructure is up-to-date and secure from potential vulnerabilities.
- Pull and terminate network cables, punch cables into patch panels, ensuring proper alignment and strong connections. Test installations with cable testers to verify performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.
- Implements and enforces security policies and procedures, manages access controls and conducts security audits.
- Install, program, manage security systems such as network connected cameras, alarms, intercoms and door access controls.
- Manages user access and permissions, ensures the proper configuration of wireless access points, VLANs, subnets and network policies to control and manage network access effectively.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network topology, IP address schemes, device configurations, and changes to the network infrastructure to support troubleshooting, audits and future upgrades
- Assists management with technology planning, evaluates new technology. Assists in acquisition and recommends system modifications for improvement.
- Conducts all work in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, customer requirements, compliance requirements and best practices.
- Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in information technology, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Driver's License.
