The Seasonal Fish Counter is a critical position that plays a key role in supporting Douglas County P.U.D.'s mission and value statements. This role involves working under the supervision of the Natural Resources Supervisor or designee to monitor fish passage at Wells Dam, using video display monitors to record individual fish passing through the fish ladders. The successful incumbent will be responsible for accurately identifying various species of migrating fish, ensuring compliance with all District policies, and adhering to the District's Safety Policy and Procedures. In addition, they will operate District vehicles equipped with GPS devices, which monitor vehicle location while conducting business on behalf of the District. This position requires regular, consistent, on-site attendance while working independently and with others. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of people. They must also have a high school diploma or GED, and prior fish counting experience or fish identification education will be given special consideration. The successful applicant will be required to undergo post-offer background screening as per NERC standards.
