Job Description
The Secondary Math Intervention Specialist holds a Colorado teaching license and is endorsed by the state of Colorado in grades 7-12 mathematics. Works with 7th – 12th grade students who require strategic and intensive intervention. The focus of the intervention specialist is to develop a student-centered system of interventions that effectively works to close the achievement gap in math. The goal of the intervention specialist is to ensure that students are able to master grade level standards and curriculum by instructing students who have not met these criteria.
Minimum Education Or Formal Training
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Demonstrate exemplary classroom math instructional practices and possess a deep understanding of math practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement gaps.
Provide direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math intervention in individual, and/or small group settings.
Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers regarding alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.
Create a learning environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by DCSD policy.
Maintain positive communication between school staff, parents, and students.

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Mostly clean and comfortable. Some noise.
- Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds
