Job Description

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, the Math Interventionist provides targeted instructional support to elementary students in need of additional mathematics intervention. This role involves analyzing student data, designing and implementing research-based academic interventions, and delivering small-group instruction to accelerate student learning. The Math Interventionist collaborates closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to align interventions with core instruction and ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize data analysis to assess student progress, identify learning gaps, and inform instructional decisions.
  • Design and implement targeted academic interventions to support students requiring additional math instruction.
  • Deliver small-group instruction tailored to students’ needs, focusing on foundational math skills and problem-solving strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting strategies as necessary to maximize student growth.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to integrate interventions with core instruction and ensure continuity in learning.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and provide data-driven reports to teachers, administrators, and parents as needed.
  • Support the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student confidence and academic success.
  • Participate in professional development and training to stay current with best practices in math intervention and instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

You are challenged with new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment. You would plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Teachers are responsible for managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.

You would utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.

Our teachers are integral parts of their school and the school community, performing certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.

As a teacher you would be expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

You would maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.

Position Salary Schedule Eligibility

General

Licensed position salaries are set based on one of three salary schedules; General, Hard to Hire, and Specialist/Extremely Hard to Hire. DCSD will award up to 7 years of previous licensed teaching experience at the time of hire. Click HERE to view the current DCSD Licensed Salary Schedules*.

  • *All salary amounts listed on the schedules are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
