SUMMARY: Supervises the District’s warehouse and transportation operations, including the procurement of materials and supplies and the provision of transportation services per established policies and procedures. Serves as an information resource regarding the District’s warehouse and transportation practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises transportation & warehouse staff; recruits and recommends hire; assigns and reviews work; prepares performance evaluations; disciplines employees and resolves problems.
- Plans and implements bus routes for regular and special transportation; establishes bus stops based on efficiency, safety, and legal requirements. Establishes time schedules; prepares route and boundary maps.
- Manages service and maintenance of transportation fleet; establishes standards and schedule for maintenance of buses, automobiles, trucks, and maintenance vehicles; establishes preventative maintenance schedules.
- Develops and implements programs to ensure that vehicles meet safety standards and pass state safety inspections. Maintains schedules for repairs and replacement of parts based on miles and time.
- Compiles data and prepares transportation reports as required by the district and state. Analyzes effect of state funding formulas for reimbursement of costs. Ensures that reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Ensures Department compliance with state codes regarding driver training and certification and vehicle licensing, registration, and operational permits. Maintains related records. Manages provision of driver training; develops training programs that meet and supplement state requirements. Supervises and/or conducts training for mechanics. Manage federal random testing compliance program for the district.
- Coordinates student transportation activities with district staff, law enforcement agencies, and other agencies or individuals.
- Responsible for the smooth operation of the District’s warehouse including the accurate inventory of all equipment, materials and supplies and the records maintenance of all requisitions of warehouse stock.
- Directs department functions for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.
- Monitors assigned programs and/or projects (e.g. General Fixed Assets, Inventory, etc.) for the purpose of conforming to administrative, state and/or federal requirements.
- Monitors departmental budget (e.g. mail, mechanical, warehouse department expenditures) for the purpose of ensuring the accurate allocation of expenses and tracking of assets.
- Monitors warehouse functions for the purpose of providing providing efficient operations, including the coordination of delivery schedules within the District.
- Researches vendors, new products, laws, regulations, etc. for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts and maintaining district wide services.
- Resolves problems with vendors and service providers related to the delivery and receipt of ordered products and/or services; investigates and resolves discrepancies.
- Responsible for recording all mileage to ADE (AZ Department of Education)
- Works with the Business Office for billing purposes.
- Reports all repair needs to Maintenance.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to five years warehouse or receiving experience
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- One to three years of experience with basic accounting and/or General Fixed Assets procedures
- Bilingual ability in Spanish and English strongly preferred
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
Computer Proficiency: Word standard, Excel standard and Outlook standard
