Medical Policy Clinical Researcher, Managing Consultant Apply locations : US - VA, McLean; US - VA, Arlington; US - MD, HanoverJob Family : Operational Effectiveness ConsultingTravel Required : Up to 10%Clearance Required : NoneWhat You Will Do : This person will perform Secondary Research : Thoroughly researching, reviewing, and analyzing current medical literature, clinical practice guidelines, government regulations, and other sources to understand the latest evidence-based practices.Specific responsibilities include : Synthesizing medical literature into summary findingsResearching and reviewing coverage determinations from industry health insurers and other regulatory bodies to help guide or support policy determinationsClinical Writing : Drafting clear and detailed medical policies that may include clinical indications, contraindications / limitations, background of disease processes, treatment descriptions, research summary findings, FDA information, and applicable health care procedural coding informationEditorial Management and Stakeholder Engagement : Managing assigned medical policy through writing and revision, actively leading working sessions with VA clinical SMEs and draft finalizationMaintaining high level of organization and attention to detailWhat You Will Need : Must have at least 5-7 years of clinical research and clinical medical writing experienceMaster's degree in a relevant field (i.e. medical sciences, health administration, health services, clinical research, biology, public health, health policy, etc.)Experience in scientific / medical writing requiredMust have excellent writing skills and the ability to formulate scientific / medical information in a clear and concise mannerMust have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external personnel at various levelsMust possess strong attention to detailExperience working in a team environmentWhat Would Be Nice To Have : The ideal candidate would hold a Ph.D. in scientific, medical, clinical disciplinePhD or equivalent experience with ability to evaluate clinical researchClinical credential (RN, MD, DO) is also acceptableExperience with medical management (utilization management, case management, disease management) and quality programsHealth Plan / Insurer ExperienceHealth System experienceThe annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00.
