Under the supervision of the EVP, the VP of Information Technology will direct the Credit Union’s IT-functions. The ability to collaborate cross-functionally within the organization through relationship development and exceptional communication will be essential to the continued success of the organization’s focus on transformation. The VP of Information Technology is responsible for developing and implementing secure and innovative solutions ensuring system uptime standards are met, working closely with third-party providers, suggesting cost savings direction and income generation concepts. Being part of the Credit Union's Leadership Team, the VP of Information Technology will also assist in driving the Credit Union's strategic plan, working collaboratively to control risk and develop an inclusive work experience.
Essential Functions
- Participate in developing the strategic plan by reviewing membership needs and expansion opportunities, capital expenditures, and competitors' activities in the local market. Acts as trusted advisor to the EVP and BOD on developing future credit union strategy.
- Direct, plan, organize, and control all activities of the IT functions to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all systems. Initiate research and implement actions required to be proactive in assessing business needs for all areas of the credit union.
- Work closely with the executive team to research, recommend, and implement innovative product / service offerings.
- Proactively work with all management / designated personnel to ensure that systems and services are meeting / exceeding expectations. Identify system deficiencies and implement corrective action in a timely manner to ensure superior member service.
- Develop and implement long-range strategic plans to address the evolving information processing needs of the Credit Union and its members.
- Research and recommend current and future technology updates for alignment with credit union organizational and strategic business goals.
- Implement and maintain measures that provide the highest level of security for all technology systems, following all regulatory agencies and credit union policy and procedure.
- Develop and direct the credit union disaster recovery and security plans related to information technology.
- Budget, manage, and control expenses for all Info Tech related vendors ensuring data security and service delivery standards are met.
- Responsible for data security, system security, and provides administrative function audits on IT personnel.
- Work closely with Internal Audit and Risk Management to understand and mitigate risks within the credit union’s operating environment.
- Provide oversight of technology and system-related vendors and partners.
- Provide leadership, transparency, support, and actively communicate and collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Responsible for continued training and development of IT staff, with appropriate coaching and accountability as needed.
- Promote a department that communicates and interacts well with internal / external support areas and initiatives.
- Partner with senior leaders to align service and performance with organizational goals and objectives.
- Serve as the principal advisor to the EVP on all issues associated with systems, deployment strategies, and user support.
- Work closely with third-party providers, demonstrating effective risk management.
- Develop a future roadmap embracing modern infrastructure and scalability while controlling expenses.
- Ensure the Information Technology area complies with regulations and remediates audit findings.
- Ensure internal policies and procedures are being followed within the IT department.
- Use professional interpersonal skills to project a positive image as a representative of the credit union.
- Provide leadership on the Credit Union’s Business Continuity Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
