Dover-Sherborn Regional High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Librarian and Media Specialist to join our dynamic educational team for the 2025-2026 school year. The Librarian and Media Specialist will play a pivotal role ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and will help empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. This individual will be responsible for managing the school library and media center, providing instruction in library skills, collaborating with educators throughout the building, and promoting literacy initiatives throughout the school community. Responsibilities: Foster a library and media center that is creative, flexible, and an essential part of the schools learning community.
Align the school library and media center with the mission, goals, and objectives of the High School and District. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in adolescent literacy, library science, media tools, and education. Promote ethical use of information, copyright law, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property. Work with colleagues to support interdisciplinary projects and initiatives as well as the Director of Educational Technology to promote the use of instructional technology and resources.Collaborate with educators to encourage inquiry learning, information literacies, critical thinking and growth.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies and stay current with educational trends. Collaborate with the elementary, middle school and town librarians to ensure a K-12 alignment of information literacy skills; network with other librarian job-alike groups. Foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. Maintain the school and faculty libraries: both print materials, online learning tools, and digital assets/resources.
Develop, curate, and circulate resources appropriate to the curriculum, learners and community. Establish and regularly review procedures for selection, evaluation, acquisition and circulation of resources in all formats, with a specific focus on online research databases, news sources, and digital libraries (i.e. Sora). Coordinate with the Guidance Department to oversee Virtual High School, independent studies, and other virtual student programs.
Maintain and update public-facing library resources through the school website and Parentsquare. Other responsibilities as assigned by the High School Principal.
