Job Title: Assistant Director-Food Programs
Reports to: Youth & Family Programs Director
Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Hourly/Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm *Some Flexibility required for early or late hours or weekends for special events/programs
Compensation: $15-$17 per hour
*Eligible for Full-Time Benefits Package including YMCA Retirement Fund
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Director–Food Programs will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of food programs here at the Dow Bay Area YMCA. The role requires an organized individual who can balance the daily operational needs of food programming here at the YMCA while also engaging in fun, food-related programs and activities.
JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide general oversight for daily operations of the food program including creating menus, ordering food and supplies, rotating stock, and maintaining adequate inventories
- Maintain a clean, orderly kitchen that meets or exceeds sanitary and safety guidelines/regulations
- Optimize resources to enhance kitchen efficiency and make data-driven, cost-effective decisions when ordering food and supplies
- Responsible for ensuring all CACFP and SFSP records are completed accurately and on time and for applying for reimbursements promptly in accordance with program requirements
- Responsible for meeting all grant requirements and reporting obligations for any food program related grants
- Ensure the integration of physical activity into programming and events in alignment with HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) standards
- Plan and instruct cooking classes for children and families
- Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, children and families served, and partner organizations in the community
- Be proactive in the ongoing recruitment of program participants and education/outreach in the community
- Responsible for reviewing and approving invoices for food programming-related expenses
- Attend all required staff trainings, meetings and community events to help promote programs
- Be familiar with procedures of reporting suspected child abuse as a Mandated Reporter
- Serve as a representative and role model for the YMCA always maintaining a professional demeanor
- Supports all aspects of the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA in the spirit of teamwork
- Other duties as assigned by Youth & Family Programs Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Must possess and maintain ServSafe Certification
- Successful completion of background check required
- Excellent communication, organization, computer and administrative skills are required
- Have flexible availability Monday through Friday as well as some evening and occasional weekend hours to attend and actively engage in food programming
