About you and this role
Auburn manufacturing Site has an exciting opening for a Plant Production Control Coordinator. The unit operations at this Site are primarily mixing based (low, medium and high shear) along with the associated postproduction finishing operations. The Site’s strategy focuses on low volume, high margin specialty materials being consumed into very challenging markets like electronics, aerospace and automotive. A high degree of customer focus is essential for our Site’s success and our respective business.
This position supports activities relating to the support of process automation systems. Provides preventative maintenance and 24x7x365 troubleshooting support for installed base systems. Call ins are rare (3 – 5x per year) but can happen. Minimizes plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. Has an overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software. Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. May act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.
Due to the extensive learning required for this role…a minimum of five years in the role will be required.
Responsibilities
- Provides care and troubleshooting of the process automation systems, and their associated networks and interfaces.
- Provides corrective support in response to a system error condition or failure as the first point of escalation from the plant.
- Performs predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems.
- Participates in software and hardware upgrades.
- Understands and follows all identified Dow Process Automation work processes, such as Problem Resolution and Request Management, S&OP Case entry, Engineering and Maintenance Asset database updates.
- Completes small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development.
- Tracks and redeploys assets.
- Provides training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources.
- Interfaces with others in the Plant who support process control on troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Monitors system diagnostics aligned with plan process control staff.
- Participates in risk assessment when activities to the system are required.
- Escalates issues to additional support resources and follow-ups, as necessary.
Required Qualification
- An associate's degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, IT, Networking or related field plus process control, manufacturing or other related experience preferred. In lieu of degree, equivalent years of experience required.
- Able to demonstrate basic computer skills
- Must be 18 years old or older
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Your Skills
- PLC Programming – Proficiency in programming in Ladder Diagram, Function Block, Sequential Function, and Structured text.
- HMI Development – Ability to develop and maintain Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems. Ability to program in Visual Basic.
- Control System Specific Experience – Siemens PCS7, Allen-Bradley RS-Logix 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, FasTrak FTSolution, GE Proficy iFix
- Python or PowerShell scripting – ability to write scripts for task automation.
- OPC – Experience with Open Process Connectivity
- MS SQL – Use of databases
- Industrial Networking – Knowledge of networking protocols and systems used in industrial environments.
- Instrumentation Technology – Understanding of various sensors and their applications in automation.
- Safety Standards – Knowledge of safe programming and safety protocols and standards in industrial settings.
- Systems administration – Ability to assemble, install, configure operating systems, troubleshoot hardware and software.
- Electrically trained – Able to read and understand electrical schematics
