For more than 47 years, Down To Earth has been a staple in the Eugene community. Still locally owned and operated, we continue to operate a thriving retail store in downtown Eugene. In addition, Down To Earth has grown into one of the country's leading manufacturers of natural fertilizers, premium organic gardening products, kitchen ware and glass. We have a nation-wide wholesale distribution and fertilizer manufacturing facility located in the Glenwood area.
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee the company-wide human resources function. This is a full time, in person position. Applicants must be able to report to work onsite.
SUMMARY:
The HR Manager assists departments in developing and maintaining a high quality workforce, enabling them to provide the best services possible to their customers. This position also assists in the establishment of company-wide policies and provides monitoring and oversight necessary to ensure application of human resource policies, including recruitment, selection, promotions, training, discipline, employee benefits administration, workforce reductions, classification, compensation, employee appeals and disability benefits. The human resource manager ensures fair and equitable job and promotional opportunities and services for both current employees and individuals seeking employment with Down to Earth Distributors, Inc.
The HR Manager works closely with management of all divisions to process employee reviews, classification, training, discipline, employee benefits, workforce reductions and employee terminations.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of labor and payroll compliance laws and policies in Oregon.
Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or retail setting strongly preferred.

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience in the HR discipline.
- 5 years increasingly responsible professional level experience in a human resources department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- SHRM or PHR certification highly desired.
Physical Skills and Abilities: Depending on the assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.
Working Conditions: This position is based at the Judkins Rd. office location with regular visits to the Olive St. retail location. Regular visits to the Wholesale Warehouse and Production floor, located behind the Judkins Office are required. Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work.
