What is a Shop Foreman?
The Shop Foreman is responsible for ensuring that the daily operations of the shop flows according to schedule. Responsible for ensuring that all shop employees know how to perform their functions, they have the tools to do their jobs, and that they understand and follow all safety protocols. Frac valve knowledge on both the small bore and large bore 10K/15K.
In this role, you will:
- Coaches, reviews, supervise assigned employees
- Make suggestions that are given a certain weight regarding the employment status of assigned employees
- Responsible for the assembly of components
- Schedules, assigns, and plans the work of personnel
- Monitors the purchase and use of materials
- Plans and develops work schedule for equipment usage, expenditures, and procedures for equipment maintenance in the supervisor’s department
- Trains and informs employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, and work policies
- Monitors assigned personnel to ensure they follow company and department policies and enforces safety regulations also adhere to proper codes and standards
- Able to perform all the duties of the Employees in their department
- Always observe and practice company safety procedures
- Other duties may be assigned
Required and Preferred Abilities
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the machining or repair of API 6A components
- Exhibit management skills
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, fractions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Minimal computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Properly maintain equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications of components, assemblies, finished products for conformance of all requirements
- Determine the correct equipment and tools needed to do a job correctly
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Possess the ability to operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools
- Lift materials and products up to 30 pounds
Education or Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience
