What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Porter position at Downtown Grand Las Vegas?
POSITION SUMMARY:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Responsible for all meeting room setup and configuration such as classroom, u-shape, and hollow square.
- Must be able to read a banquet event order (BEO) and follow instructions listed and room diagrams.
- Ability to push carts that hold anywhere from 5 to 10 tables at one time as well as move banquet chairs with a dolly.
- Ensure cleanliness of event space before and after function.
- Coordinate with other departments as necessary to maintain cleanliness in all event spaces.
- Set out linens on the table for events as well as tracking dirty linen bins that need to go out for cleaning.
- Maintain the banquet storage room ensuring banquet supplies are readily available and organized.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Convention set up experience preferred.
- Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
- Must be able to comprehend all information and documentation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at times.
- Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke.
- Follow all safety procedures as established by the company.
