The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) strives to make Downtown a destination of choice for living, working, visiting, and investing. We also oversee the Downtown Management Authority (DMA), Baltimore’s oldest and largest business improvement district (BID). DPOB's programs – including uniformed operations teams of Downtown Baltimore Guides, Clean Sweep Ambassadors, and Park Stewards – make the 106-block downtown district more attractive, vibrant, and hospitable.
We are looking for a Clean Sweep Ambassador (CSA) Supervisor for our corporate headquarters on South Charles Street. This role focuses on the daily supervision of the Clean Sweep Ambassadors team (CSA’s). Reporting to the Director of Public Space Maintenance, the CSA Supervisor will work closely with the supervisors of the Hospitality and Safety, Parks, and Homeless Outreach teams.
We’ll need you to
- Interact with Downtown Baltimore business representatives, visitors, and tenants for communication and support.
- Represent Downtown Partnership in a professional manner at meetings and special events.
- Conduct daily full inspection of uniform attire at roll call prior to daily deployment.
- Daily inspection and distribution of equipment to CSA’s. Responsible for ensuring all equipment is fully functional for each tour of duty.
- Daily inspections of “back of the house” areas and vehicles for order and cleanliness.
- Responsible for direct oversight of CSA’s on assigned daily routes.
- Ensure all CSAs follow the policies, rules, and regulations of the program.
- Conduct inspections of all posts daily to ensure all areas are maintained.
- Is prepared with updated and relevant information on events occurring in their areas of deployment.
- Documents operational efforts through daily reports.
- Prepare and present comprehensive weekly reports on CSA team performance.
- Prepare and present bi-annual evaluations for CSA team members.
- Oversee the safety of the CSAs and intercedes (when necessary) to protect them from potentially dangerous situations
- Participate in team meetings and event planning sessions providing feedback and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and coach CSA team members for improved performance.
- Manage payroll, scheduling, fleet management, supply orders, recruitment, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide disciplinary action, when necessary, in collaboration with the Director of Public Space Maintenance.
- Conduct training of new employees to ensure uniformity in understanding the policies of Downtown Partnership.
- Active participation and leadership in community clean up days and related events.
Is This You?
- High School diploma or GED with five years’ work experience.
- Associate degree or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Completion of Supervisor Training is preferred.
- Related experience in hospitality, public safety, security, or maintenance.
- A current Maryland Drivers’ License w/Clean Driving record of 2 points or less.
Other Requirements
- Familiarity with Downtown Baltimore.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and team members.
- MS Office computer literacy required, along with excellent writing and communication skills.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours
- This is a full-time exempt position on site at DPOB - 20 S. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.
- Evening and weekend work may be required as the job duties demand.
- Driving within a specified local area will be a regular part of the daily responsibilities.
- Support, supervise and provide oversight of CSA personnel in the field in a variety of harsh weather conditions to include snow, sleet, rain, and extreme heat or cold while carrying, pushing, or pulling at least 10 pounds of equipment.
This full-time position offers a compensation range of $41,000 - $54,900 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
