JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the HR Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for recruitment and general HR support for Doyon Limited Consortium subsidiaries. Responsible for managing the recruitment process, from sourcing and attracting talent to onboarding positions at all levels of the business. This highly visible position will network and develop strong business relationships within the industry, with senior management and DL Consortium subsidiaries.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop business relationships with subsidiaries and maintain an understanding of their businesses
- Develop recruitment strategies for multiple DL Consortium subsidiaries
- Understand Shareholder Preference policy and actively support Shareholder Outreach recruitment and development efforts
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs
- Develop and maintain all job descriptions and job postings; execute all required job postings
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts to identify and source qualified candidates
- Conduct searches for qualified candidates according to job criteria, using multiple databases and recruitment platforms
- Assist with all internal and external HR-related matters
- Participate in developing organizational guidelines and procedures
- Recommend strategies to motivate employees
- Investigate complaints brought forward by employees
- Coordinate employee development plans and performance management
- Perform orientations and update records of new staff
- Facilitate training sessions
- Review and coordinate candidate applications, conduct phone interviews/screenings as needed, refer candidates to hiring managers, and participate in applicant interviews as needed
- Provide hiring guidance, coaching, and reference information to managers
- Schedule and process pre-employment drug testing, background checks, and FIT tests/physicals
- Act as a company representative at job fairs
- Coordinate with external recruiters and outside employment agencies to identify and attract candidates
- Research, identify and recommend best practices for recruitment
- Perform reference checks and employment verifications
- Retain recruitment files according to regulatory requirements
- Maintain DOT files and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Assist with confidential employee relations issues as required
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable laws
- Assist with edits and proofreading of company policies & procedures and related documents
- Maintain knowledge of HR laws, current practices, and new developments
- Administer FML program
- Administer Workers Compensation program
- Act as a liaison with the Benefits Administrator and HR department
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. May substitute additional years of human resource/progressive administrative experience on a year-for-year basis
- Three (3) years of human resource experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
- Professional certification in area of expertise (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CIDD, CBP, CCP, etc.)
- Experience working with a Human Resource Information System (e.g., Ulti-pro)
- Comprehensive knowledge of existing governmental and labor, legal, and government regulation/legislation, including Equal Employment Opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Department of Labor, worker compensation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
