Job Description
Due to continued growth we are currently recruiting a Loss Prevention Security Officer to help strengthen our ever growing Security Team at DPD. You will primarily be based in Cardiff but Travel to Swansea and Bristol may be required.
Within this role you will be responsible for driving the loss prevention strategy and creating a culture where security is front of mind and risk is eliminated. You will build data-driven investigations, conduct interviews, and monitor security risks as well as supporting regional security managers to implement programs and processes to prevent loss, manage our customers' assets, and implement a robust security approach within our teams of strong operational people.

To reduce loss, identify risk and remove opportunities of theft.
Deliver results through policy guidance, and education.
Serve as the security department's liaison and security/crisis management subject matter expert for site leadership keeping them informed on key issues, strategies and the department’s performance.
Analyse data, conduct audits and identify trends to create actionable plans to mitigate risk.
Maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.
Ensure a safe, secure environment through diligent active patrols, with a focus on person and vehicle access control.
Be visible and observant at all times, providing a visible presence that enforces security.
Maintain the company’s reputation with professionalism and legal compliance.
Lead, conduct, and deliver results and reports regarding investigations of Theft, Fraud, and Workplace Violence/Critical Incidents.
Collaborate with other security colleagues for effective protection and support.
Reporting directly to the General Security Manager you will also have contact with various parties, such as internal departments, official bodies (police, customs, and external customer security.)
Based on audit findings, advise sites on how to manage and mitigate risks related to buildings, processes and products.
Increase Security Awareness across the business as well as supporting and advising customers on processes to protect their stock.
Coordinate Security Awareness training and compile relevant data.
Organise and supervise searches, to incorporate staff, contractors, visitors and vehicles
Investigate or interview individuals suspected of internal theft.
Effectively partner with internal customers in evaluating current and future security services, processes and initiatives.
Accurately communicate verbally and in written form to a broad customer base
Train and orient new support in loss prevention culture.
Develop projects while continuously improving physical security, processes, standards, training, and policies for future growth.
Promote and execute security best practises.
Audit physical security infrastructure (i.e. intrusion detection, access control, cameras) and ensure functionally of all systems.
Work weekends and/or overnight shifts as necessary
Work in an industrial environment that requires walking up to 5 miles a day.
Qualifications
What we are looking for
Previous experience within a Loss Prevention, Security, Investigatory setting is essential to be successful within this role. You will ideally have experience within a large fast paced distribution or logistics setting but this is not essential
The successful candidate will need to:
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in numerous formats and at all levels
Possess strong analytical skills along with the ability to identify trends and anomalies in large amounts of data.
Have a thorough and keen attention to detail.
Display excellent customer service skills
Demonstrate the ability to work independently with off-site supervision
Have an awareness and implementation of best practises related to the utilisation of physical security systems, investigation techniques,
Have proven IT skills with an excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Packages or Google Suite.

Job Specifics
A Full clean UK Driving licence is essential for this role as some travel to other locations may be required at times.
You will have a thorough induction to the department as well as a thorough induction to DPD
This role will require you to work predominantly Monday to Friday days however some flexibility may be required in relation to working nights and weekends as our operation runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week
