JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Receiving Associate ensures the store is stocked and ready for business every day, provide merchandise loading assistance, move materials from the receiving department area throughout the store, excellent customer service skills are required. Lumberyard Loader is responsible for use of hand-controlled forklifts and forklift operation, loading and unloading all lumber and building materials, receiving and shipping, picking orders, stocking and counting inventory, monitoring quality of goods and products, and completing all necessary paperwork thoroughly and accurately. This team member also assists in sales-related administrative and customer service activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains and processes shipments in accordance with Company policies and procedures by developing and posting delivery schedules; compiling and organizing receiving reports; verifying merchandise counts; routing merchandise to proper locations.
  • Receives merchandise for the facility, organizes and maintains the Receiving area by following Company procedures, utilizing equipment appropriately; merchandising; and completing required documentation.
  • Tracks and processes claim by returning damaged goods; handling liquidation merchandise; and utilizing technology to capture required reporting and documentation.
  • Operate forklift safely and effectively to load, unload, and move other equipment and merchandise according to company guidelines
  • Maintains safety of facility by following all safety standards, procedures, and guidelines; following proper forklift/pallet jack spotting procedures; following company safety standard guidelines and correcting and/or reporting unsafe situations to management.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures while carrying out the responsibilities.
  • Attends all store meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Management

REPORT AND FILE FRIEGHT CLAIMS FOR DAMAGED MATERIALS

  • Notify project manager or salesperson of damaged product or material
  • Forward freight claim paperwork to Accounts Payable

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in shipping and receiving meetings
  • Assist with Mid-Year and Year End Inventory
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits; required: use of eye/ear protection, masks; compliance with OSHA standards, organization safety standards, and dress code
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the receiving room, receiving isles and receiving outdoor
  • Assist in other departments as needed
  • Participate in new shipping and receiving process updates and changes
  • Customer Service

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to utilize company point-of-sale system, Microsoft Work & Excel, and other 3rd party software applications at a basic level
  • Must successfully pass all Company training
  • Must be detail oriented and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and time critical environment
  • Enthusiasm, high energy and ability to work in a team.
  • Must be physically able to move and handle large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, and bend for extended periods, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties
  • Physical Abilities: Perform repeated physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials and other activities necessary to perform job duties
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and write reports as needed
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to use general math skills
  • Must demonstrate great customer service
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, be able to manage with limited supervision, and must have excellent communication and organizational skills

WORK AVAILABILITY:

  • Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 8 to 12 hours per day, at a minimum of 35 hours per week, or such other hours per day or weeks as management determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
