What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swing Shift Clean Up position at DR Johnson Lumber?

The cleanup position is a key support role in the production of the products manufactured at DR Johnson . The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with little supervision and guidance on a regular basis.
POSITION SUMMARY: Overall clean-up of debris in sawmill.
Employee works on a clean-up crew removing wet and dry debris, lumber, stickers, and shavings from sawmill facility. Duties include cleaning sawmill floor, basement, and around chip bins, screener, barker, and other areas where debris accumulates. The employee removes sawdust from the floor by shoveling it into a wheelbarrow and then emptying the loaded wheelbarrow outside in a disposal area or with the use of a bobcat. In addition, the employee uses an air hose to clean dust and small debris from the floor and from machine surfaces as well as push brooms and other cleaning tools. Employee may be assigned other tasks by the supervisor as needed.
**This is a physically demanding job that requires constant physical interaction for the entire shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleaning around sawmill equipment while keeping a lookout for equipment in need of repair.
- Verbally reports any unusual conditions to sawmill supervisor of appropriate individual (i.e. millwright in the case of equipment problem).
- Maintain and promotes awareness of safe working conditions and practices by following all policies and procedures. Caution others as necessary in working in a safe manner.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be able to perform within a team environment.
Screening and Evaluation:
While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a contingent offer of employment. Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of non-prescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to DR Johnson’s drug and alcohol policy.
