TITLE: Native Language Teaching Assistant (Pashto Bilingual)
LOCATION: Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Elementary
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal(s) and Director of Bilingual Programs
JOB SUMMARY: The Native Language Teaching Assistant works under the direct supervision of the ESL/Bilingual teacher and under the broad supervision of the building principal(s) and Director of Multilingual Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Teaching Assistant shall assume the following duties:
- Provide native language literacy and/or math instruction to small groups of students.
- Assist in supporting ESL classrooms and/or general education classrooms as determined by the supervisor(s).
- Assist the translation/interpretation in appropriate native languages of students and families.
- Perform all other duties and tasks assigned from time to time by the supervisor as it relates to individual students or the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet all requirements for the position as designated by the ISBE, Paraprofessional Certificate or 60 hours of college credit are required.

EVALUATION: To be completed by director/principal with input from the classroom teacher.
