Role Summary
The temporary part-time Medical Records Technician is responsible for maintaining and organizing patients' medical records and ensuring their accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper and electronic formats. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care by managing sensitive health information efficiently and confidentially.
Key Performance Indicators

- Accuracy and Completeness of Records:
- Record Completeness: Percentage of patient records that are complete and meet the standards for documentation and reference of past medical records.
- Timeliness of Records Management:
- Turnaround Time: Time taken to update, file, or retrieve patient records upon request.
- Response Time: Time taken to respond to requests for information from healthcare providers, patients, or other authorized parties.
- Compliance and Security:
- Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations, measured by the number of compliance breaches or audit findings.
- Security Incidents: Number of security breaches or unauthorized access incidents involving patient records.
- Efficiency of Processes:
- Processing Speed: Time taken to process new patient records, including data entry and filing.
- System Downtime: Amount of time the electronic health records (EHR) system is down or inaccessible, impacting record-keeping and retrieval.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully you must have extensive knowledge utilizing Athena Health. Be available to work between the hours of 8 am - 4pm. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education / Experience / Knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Athena Health is a must.
Computer Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Athena Health. Able to learn new software easily.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.51 - $19.47 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 16 per week
